The Blues Brothers (1980) is a curious movie, not least being a skit from Saturday Night Live that made its way to the big screen. Possibly more curious is how many stars are in the cast.
The Blues Brothers themselves - Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi - and the rest of the Blues Brothers Band were regulars from Saturday Night Live and would have been familiar faces in their own right to audiences in America in 1980.
As a musical movie, there are a number of musical guests - ranging from Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and James Brown, to Chaka Khan and John Lee Hooker.
On top of that, though, we have: Carrie Fisher (Star Wars) and John Candy (Spaceballs) with significant parts, plus cameos from Frank Oz (Yoda), the movie’s director John Landis, Steven Spielberg, 60s supermodel Twiggy, as well as people that already had established credits but would go on to be more famous for later projects, such as Paul Reubens (Pee-wee Herman), De’voreaux White (Die Hard), Ralph Foody (Home Alone) and Charles Napier (Austin Powers).
